Watch brands to make their biggest ever profit, but the big boys won’t be buying
The big boys are back with another big profit and a new category of watches.
The new category, the men’s watches, is now worth $1.4 billion, and is set to be worth $2.1 billion this year.
It’s not only a boost for the watch industry as a whole, but also for women.
“It’s great for us as a group to see the market grow and the women get more value for their money,” said Kimberly Scholl, managing director of women’s watches at Brooks Brothers.
“Men will get a chance to buy their watches for less money.”
The big three brands – Omega, Brooks Brothers and TAG Heuer – have all posted record profit margins in the last year.
However, this was still just a tiny fraction of what the companies make on their entire business.
“We think there’s a lot of room for growth,” said Chris Smee, an analyst at BTIG.
“I’m still not sold on how big the growth will be and the breadth of brands.”
However, with the men still on top, the women’s category is likely to be even more of a success.
“This is one of those categories where it’s just going to be about who gets to go on top,” said Scholl.
“The market is still dominated by men and the men are the ones who are buying the watches. “
So I think that will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future.” “

Watch brands are taking a page out of the men ‘s book Watch makers have been pushing the envelope with some impressive features.
“There’s no shortage of options and options that are available to women,” said Brooks Brothers’ Mr Smeeh.
The company has been making some of the most stylish watches for women in the world.
“One of the biggest trends is that women are taking on the luxury watch market,” he said.
“So if you look at watches by Rolex and Rolex Oysters, women are in there doing the most expensive watches, right?
The watch industry’s first ever woman-led summit This year’s summit will be held at the New York City Marriott Marquis on July 23 and 24. “
But there’s another trend that’s taking over, and that’s what we’re seeing in the women market.”

The event is being organised by the Women’s Wear Daily, a magazine that aims to empower women in a changing world.
Watch makers are also looking ahead to the next big thing, and are looking ahead at the next decade.
“Women have always been the drivers of the watch market.
We’re seeing women taking on a larger and larger role in the industry,” said Ms Smeee.
