NHL GM’s decision to re-sign Kulemin is the right move
NHL GM Jim Benning said Thursday that he will re-signed the veteran defenseman Kulema to a one-year contract.
“I am very excited to rejoin the Detroit Red Wings,” Kulemine said in a statement.
“It was a decision that was made in my best interest and I believe it will be beneficial for both sides.”
Benning said he will “continue to monitor” Kulemius situation and that he expects Kulemia to be a strong contributor for the Red Wings.
Kulemin, who was the first-round selection (No. 38 overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, scored 12 goals and 27 points in 66 games this season.
He was acquired by the Red Wing in a trade that sent Ryan Hartman to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He scored one goal and had nine assists in 21 games this past season with the Lightning.
Kulesma was selected in the third round (No, 61 overall) of the 2008 Entry Draft by the Detroit Wings and has played in three NHL seasons.
